Program Objective
The Medical Assistant Program is designed to teach students the skills necessary for employment in a medical facility or physician’s office. Students will learn the administrative and clinical roles of the medical assistant in different health care settings.

- Offers hybrid and online options with practical classes.
- Classes available in the morning, evening, and on weekends.
2️⃣ Over 10 Certifications and Diplomas
- Students will learn medical front desk procedures, patient scheduling, electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), accounts receivable, medical records, insurance billing, data entry, anatomy, phlebotomy, hematology, EKG, and clinical procedures.
- Additionally, students will assist patients with clinical tasks such as taking medical histories, obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and performing diagnostic tests as directed by physicians.
3️⃣ Employment Demand
- Employment for medical assistants is projected to grow by 29% from 2016 to 2026, significantly higher than the average for all occupations. The aging baby boomer population will continue to increase the demand for preventive medical services, often provided by physicians.

- The institution offers job placement assistance and resume preparation services for all graduates and current students, regardless of their field of study. FITI also hosts monthly workshops to help students prepare for job interviews and training.
Certification Courses Available for Students
1. Word Processing / Medical Coding and Billing
Duration: 60 hours
Content: This course trains students to use lab requisition forms, coding software, electronic medical records (EMR), and medical claim forms, focusing on hospital billing, insurance, coding, and UB-92 forms. Practical exercises include case study simulations.
2. BLS-CPR Certified by the AHA
Duration: 4 hours
Content: This training provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants. Instructors are certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) in Basic Life Support (BLS). The training covers skills relevant for patient care technicians, home health aides, and medical assistants.
3. Basic Pharmacology / Medication Dosage Calculation
Duration: 60 hours
Content: This course introduces the fundamentals of pharmacology, including the uses, sources, forms, and routes of administration of medications. Students will learn about the laws and regulations regarding controlled substances, drug classifications, and how to calculate dosages for adult and pediatric patients using metric and household units.
4. Phlebotomy / Urinalysis and Microbiology / Laboratory Procedures
Duration: 60 hours
Content: This course covers current phlebotomy practices, venipuncture procedures, infectious disease protocols, and the use of specialized equipment, with a focus on accident prevention. It also discusses hematology studies, including blood chemistry and microscopic examinations.
5. EKG - Cardiology and Radiology Procedures
Duration: 60 hours
Content: This course introduces diagnostic imaging, radiation safety, and EKG (electrocardiogram) procedures. Students will learn how to perform EKG tests and explore diseases commonly diagnosed and treated in medical facilities.
6. Medical Aesthetic Clinical Procedures
Duration: 180 hours
Content: Students will learn about common skin conditions, diagnostic tests, and treatment methods to assist doctors and nurse practitioners. The course covers neurotoxin injections, laser treatments, chemical peels, hyaluronic acid, thread lifting, body sculpting, microneedling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, and skin rejuvenation treatments.
